Welcome to the Board of Directors of the Louisville Fire Protection District (LFPD) web page. The LFPD is governed by a five-member board of directors and administered by a fire chief, Tim Parker. Serving as a board member of this dynamic, progressive and high quality organization is challenging and exciting. Current board members include: Dave Yost, President; Chris Schmidt, President Pro Tem; Dan Ross, Treasurer, Terri Abbott, Director; and Wayne Varra, Director. The pension board of trustees includes all of the above board members and two LFPD firefighters, currently Eric Berger and Shelley Kneebone. The LFPD was formed in 1978, beginning with a recommendation by the Louisville city manager. Today, the district operates out of two stations and the fire fighting force consists of 9 paid (career) and approximately 50 volunteer firefighters; we also employ seven administrative staff members. Our service area covers an area of 17 square miles and has a population of approximately 23,000 people. It presents a unique firefighting challenge due to the wide mix of residential, industrial light manufacturing, and commercial use companies. District services include fire suppression, hazardous materials response, rescue services, emergency medical response, fire prevention/investigations, plans review, fire inspections, public education ,and car seat inspections. The LFPD's volunteer and career force is a dedicated and efficient firefighting group. We are continually upgrading firefighting training and delivery of emergency services to the citizens within our jurisdiction.
